Principal's Tips

As the Stephens students and staff continue to learn and grow together, we believe that a productive partnership with parents will further enhance our efforts to provide students with a quality education.  Parents, as our partners, there are several things you can do to guide and support your child's learning.

Please make sure your child does the following:

1) Gets plenty of rest every night to make sure they are alert and ready to learn.
2) Attends school daily and arrives on time to take advantage of the lessons teachers have prepared for them.
3) Completes all homework, studies for upcoming quizzes/exams, and consistently checks Schoolloop to self monitor academic progress.
4) Consistently uses the Stephens Middle School agenda/planner to keep track of important assignments or dates.
5) Reads daily to develop literacy skills.
6) If they are having difficulty in a subject or with a peer they need to speak up so immediate assistance can be provided.

Now more than ever Stephens Middle School needs your help parents! We are always looking for parents to join us in this educational journey.  Students benefit tremendously from parent involvement and contributions to the school's programs. I ask that you consider becoming a VIPS, support school events like Back to School Night or attend some of our musical performances.  You can also get involved by joining committees like SSC (School Site Council) and ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee).

Dear Stephens Middle School Community,

It is an honor to have been recently selected to the Principal position at Stephens Middle School.  I am starting my twelfth year in the district.  During that time, I have worked at various schools as a teacher, program facilitator, dean of students, assistant principal and now a principal.  Four years ago, I was fortunate to call Stephens my home. This is an exciting opportunity for me and it feels great to be back!

To the Stephens Middle School students, parents, teachers and support staff, I am excited to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year! I look forward to your continued support to ensure every student reaches their true potential.  I truly believe all children can succeed, given the correct guidance, assistance and motivation.  I know first hand Stephens has quality teachers that are well immersed in implementing the new Common Core State Standards to provide students the opportunity for a brighter future.  The Stephens staff will remain committed to celebrate by recognizing student and staff achievements, perfect attendance, scholarly behavior and academic excellence throughout the year.

As the Stephens students and staff continue to learn and grow together, we believe that a productive partnership with parents will further enhance our efforts to provide students with a quality education.  Parents, as our partners, there are several things you can do to guide and support your child's learning.
